CHURCH AND CHAPEL

Church

With a generous capacity of up to 550 people and its beautiful native timber interior, the church is ideal for concerts, larger lectures or presentations, and conferences.

The area at the front of the church can comfortably fit a small group of musicians. An extension (at an extra charge) is available for larger groups.

A motorised projector screen is permanently installed at the back of the stage, ready for presentations, and a data projector is available to hire.

Chapel

Adjacent to the main church sanctuary we have a beautiful chapel that can comfortably seat up to 25 people.

The chapel is the perfect setting for smaller, more intimate events, including weddings, funerals, baptisms, or art exhibits. The connected foyer (55 m2) may also be available. Just let us know what you have in mind and we can plan your event with you.

The main feature of the Mackay Chapel is the magnificent Aitken stained-glass windows depicting the Last Supper. The windows were made in Edinburgh in 1903 and lived in a church in Campbeltown, Scotland until it was demolished and the windows brought to St John’s in New Zealand.

Other spaces

As well as our church and chapel, we have spaces in our St John’s Centre available for hire, including:

We also have shared kitchen facilities and, a peaceful, sheltered courtyard for breaks.
